Students always try to do their best in school!
For some, living the life of a student can be fun and for others it can be an absolute, ridiculous nightmare for them! From a variety of tasks that the professors assign, the extra curricular activities they do and the stuff they deal with at home… how can a student manage to do it all?
Some students are in extra curricular activities and they get home late from school because of the clubs or sports that they are involved in.
Being in a club is a good thing for High Schoolers because it gives them a chance to build up on their past experiences and it looks good on their College or University applications!
At the same time, it is bad to be in a club or to join a sports team because you miss so much school.
If they plan to do their assignments, homework, essays and tests ahead of time, they wouldn’t feel stressed at the last-minute and they can graduate with their classmates.
If they don’t plan to do their school work, several problems can occur such as failing a course or failing the program…. meaning the student can’t graduate because they have done no work at all!
Here are 5 tips on how to make your student life a fun one, not a stressful one:
Tip #1: (I can’t stress this enough) ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS… ASK for clarification when you aren’t sure of what the teacher has assigned you to do! They are there to help you succeed in your program and the teachers are friendly, so don’t be shy! 😉
Tip #2: When you get a new assignment that you have to work on, plan out your days accordingly to your schedule, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOMEWORK TO THE LAST MINUTE!
Tip #3: If you are feeling stressed because of the amount of work that you have to do, DON’T START SCREAMING OR CRYING because that does not help at all, instead take all the assignments one by one and work on them slowly until you have finished everything.
Tip #4: Get a family member, friend or professor to read over your work to make sure it makes sense before handing in your assignments. This way they will help you to give you more ideas, to get rid of run on sentences and other errors that they see in your work.
Tip #5: If you are dealing with something inside or outside of school or someone is bothering you, the best place to go to would be the Student Conduct Office or Counselling and Accessibility Services. They are there to help you talk your feelings out and to give you advice on what to do about your current situation! (Nobody should have to suffer what they are going through alone!)
A famous quote that I love is from a guy named Walter Disney who says “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.”
If you have what it takes to become a successful student, not a slacker student, it is time for you to make an improvement for yourself so you can make your dreams come true!
What are you waiting for? Get out there and make yourself a straight A student!
